Ultra-Slim, Ultra-Stylish - MSI Announce The GS63 Stealth Notebook

New product announcements are flying in thick and fast today, and we put some time aside for MSI's reveal of their new and particularly attractive gaming notebook: the GS63 Stealth. Sporting an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 with potential performance on par with the desktop equivalent, Intel Core i5-7700HQ and 15.6" IPS screen, there's more than meets the eye to this slim laptop.

The GS63 inherits its chassis from other members of the Stealth range, coming in at a touch under 1.8cm thick and with black brushed aluminium effect exterior. Red accents and the MSI logo marks its pedigree as a member of their Gaming hardware range, just like their high performance graphics cards. That said, as with other members of the Stealth range past and present, the aim is to seamlessly blend both performance and portability rather than boasting true 'desktop-replacement'-level hardware. If that's what you're looking for then check out other members of MSI's notebook range.

Despite the Stealth chassis' compact nature MSI have fitted out the GS63 with three fans and five heatpipes. The reason behind this is clear - more fans running at a lower RPM will tend to produce less noise than fewer fans running faster, a key bugbear for many gaming-class notebooks.

MSI's partnership with SteelSeries continues in the GS63 Stealth as it incorporates a multi-colour backlit keyboard from that worthy manufacturer. Poor quality keyboards have been an issue for gaming notebooks in the past, so it's gratifying to see MSI stick with the well regarded brand to add a touch of full-colour brightness and more comprehensive software tools to the design.

Audio is another selling point MSI are keen to push, and the GS63 Stealth's Hi-Res audio kit should have exactly what the gamer needs. Indeed, gaming with headphones in particular is well catered for thanks to an ESS SABRE HiFI headset amp letting them operate at the optimum.

Rounding out the features are Killer Gb LAN and Killer 802.11ac Wifi, optional M.2 and 1TB HDD storage, HD Webcam, Bluetooth v4.2 and an SD/XC card reader. Phew, not bad for such a compact design.
