Twitter releases its updated Terms of Service and Privacy Policy which highlights Twitter’s actions to protect its user’s privacy as part of its commitment to transparency. Twitter plans to roll out new data protection laws that will be implemented next month. While Facebook is still under fire due to a privacy-related matter, Twitter aims to reassure its users by giving users the control over their data and inform users what data Twitter collects and how it is used.
Updated Privacy Policy
The new Privacy Policy aims to empower the users to make the best decision with regards their use of Twitter’s services. Key updates to be included in the new policy include the following below:
a) More focus on the controls we offer you over your personal data;
b) More focus on how Twitter shares your public data broadly and instantly, including through our developer tools;
c) More transparency and control over how we share your data with business partners; and
d) More clarity about how we share your data to prevent harm, comply with the law, serve the public interest, and keep Twitter safe and welcoming for everyone.

Updated Terms of Service
Twitter will also be updating its Terms of Service which will be applied to both Twitter and Periscope. Twitter encourages its users to read the full Terms of Service and contact support as described in the Privacy Policy for questions and concerns. Date of Effect
The new Terms and Privacy Policy will take effect on May 25, 2018. Using Twitter’s services on or after that date means agreeing to these updates. Hence, user’s can control or limit the information Twitter can collect as indicated in the new policy. Users can also choose to deactivate their account, giving the users the authority on how Twitter can process personal data.
