Toshiba introduces the new XG6 Series NVMe solid-state drives featuring the newly developed 96-layer BiCS Flash with QLC technology also known as BiCS4 Flash. The new BiCS4 Flash application yields an increase in capacity of approximately 40% per unit chip size compared to the predecessor 64-layer 3D flash. The new Toshiba XG6 NVMe SSDs sports a thin M.2 2280 single-sided form factor for maximum compatibility. The Toshiba XG6 NVMe Solid-State Drive Series supports PCI-express Generation 3x4 lane and NVMe revision 1.3a delivering a powerful performance of up to 3180MB/s sequential read, 3000MB/s sequential write and 355K/365K random read/write IOPS at a power-efficient 4.7W consumption.
Toshiba XG6 NVMe SSD Key Features
- Security: Pyrite or self-encrypting drive models supporting TCG Opal Version 2.01, as well as support for block SID and digital signature
- Support for user-selectable over provisioning feature through NVMe command
- Top-of-the-class sequential performance (client class)6
- Enhanced SLC buffer to improve drive performance for client workloads
The Toshiba XG6 NVMe SSDs are ideal to a wide range of read-intensive applications that demands burst performance, a compact form factor for compatibility and power efficiency. The Toshiba XG6 Series will be offered in 256GB, 512GB and 1024GB capacities. Larger capacities are expected to be available in a later date. The Toshiba XG6 NVMe SSDs are currently being tested and sampled to select partners for application on next-generation computing.
The Toshiba XG6 Series will be demonstrated at the upcoming Flash Memory Summit at Santa Clara, California this August 7-9. Toshiba booth will be located at Booth #307, Hall A of the said convention.
