Synology releases new products including two DiskStation NAS models, a 5-bay expansion unit and a PCIe adapter card. These are the Synology DS1517+ and DS1817+ NAS, DX517 Expansion Unit and M2D17 PCIe Adapter Card. The DX517 and M2D17 are upgrades to the two new NAS models. Synology DiskStation DS1517+, DS1817+ NAS


The DS1517+ is a 5-bay NAS model while the DS1817+ is an 8-bay NAS that offer reliable, versatile and high-performance NAS solution for enthusiasts to small and medium businesses. Both models are offered in 2GB memory and 8GB memory variants but the dual-channel memory slot of the NAS devices is upgradeable of up to 16GB of memory for enhanced performance. Both models is packed with 4 built-in 1 Gigabit network ports and a free PCIe expansion slot to add in whatever you like from a 10GbE NIC card or the new M2D17PCIe perhaps to add a speedy M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD to be used for cache.

The Synology DiskStation DS1517+ and DS1817+ NAS models is powered by an Intel Atom quad-core 2.4Ghz processor. Sequential throughput performance can reach up to 1,179 MB/s read and 542 MB/s write when the NAS is equipped with dual-channel memory and upgraded with a 10GbE network interface.

Synology DX517 Expansion Unit


The Synology DX517 is a 5-bay expansion unit which is a perfect upgrade for the DiskStation DS1517+ and DS1817+ NAS models. The DX517 NAS expansion unit supports 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch SATA drives, an ideal volume expansion in a jiffy!

Synology M2D17 PCIe M.2 SSD Adapter


The Synology M2D17 is a PCIe adapter card that support two M.2 SSD drives. It supports 2280/2260/2242 SSD form factors. With this, you can upgrade the new DiskStation DS1517+, DS1817+ NAS devices, with a high-performance M.2 SSD caching to boost performance and leave the drives solely for storage volume purposes.

Warranties
The Synology DiskStation DS1517+ and DS1817+ NAS as well as the DX517 expansion unit carry 3-year limited warranties with extended warranty option of up to 5 years in selected regions. Meanwhile, the M2D17 carries a 3-year warranty.
