Introduction

Product on Review: Sennheiser GSP 550
Manufacturer: Sennheiser
Street Price: £219.99 GBP / $249.95 US / $399.95 AUS

The GSP line from Sennheiser welcomes a new addition in the form of the GSP 550. This new headset borrows the design from the GSP 500, adds in a fresh coat of paint as well as 7.1 Dolby surround sound. Not only do we get these new features, the GSP 550 also retains all the highlights from the 500, these include the semi-open back design, adjustable headband, broadcast quality microphone and the impressive frequency response of 10-30,000Hz.

One glaring omission is support for multiple platforms out of the box. As is, the GSP 550 will only work with PC - which is fine for most, but there are those out there that would like to use this headset for PC alongside other platforms. Sennheiser has noted this and addressed it by offering additional cables, these though cost £12.99 ($16.30 US / $24.95 AUS), but do of course allow you to use them with consoles and other platforms. However, given the premium price point, we would have liked to have seen at least the console cable included as it would increase the headsets usability right off the bat.

So, can the GSP 550 make up for this and deliver a knock out performance for PC? Read on to find out.
