Last month Razer launched the 4th Generation BlackWidow mechanical keyboard range, emphasising control and customisation options within a full-size keyboard layout. Today they're broadening this range through a slim-line alternative, the BlackWidow V4 75%.
Designers have taken inspiration from both the wide range of 65% keyboards currently on the market and established BlackWidows, creating something that's more compact than traditional tenkeyless designs but with more functionality than standard compact models.
A key draw for mechanical keyboard afficionados will be the hot-swap sockets, allowing key switches to be changed as their preferences change. They arrive as standard with Razer's own Orange Tactile GEN-3 Mechanical Switches, but are also compatible with the rest of their comprehensive range. Switches and stabalisers arrive pre-lubed, and foam installed under the switch plate serves to dampen noise for a more pleasant typing experience. An aluminium top-case adds much needed rigidity.
The keyboard includes a full range of F-keys and is also equipped with two media control buttons and a volume roller, similar to the full-size BlackWidow V4. These can be customised in software, and in conjunction with dual-use keys and Razer Synapse software allow full control over media and keyboard functionality.
