NVIDIA Adds Support For DirectX Raytracing In GeForce 416.16 Drivers

Hot on the heels of Microsoft's Windows 10 October 2018 Update comes NVIDIA's newest GPU driver release. The GeForce Game Ready 416.16 WHQL driver package has been released with one expressed intention: to support DirectX Raytracing (DXR), and by extension real-time raytracing on NVIDIA Turing hardware.

While games supporting DXR and NVIDIA RTX technology have yet to be released, this driver is the base version required for compatibility. When games are released don't be surprised if new Game Ready drivers are issued, but this is the base version for now.

In addition to the new API support the GeForce 416.16 drivers also issue a number of bug fixes for current and older hardware.

You can download the drivers at http://www.geforce.com/drivers, or via the GeForce Experience app. They're compatible with 64-bit version of Windows 7 and 10, and GPUs going back to the 600-series (Kepler). DirectX Raytracing requires Windows 10.
