Microsoft is the next tech giant to suspend sales in Russia in lieu of the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia. Microsoft will be suspending new sales in Russia. In addition, Microsoft is coordinating closely and working in lockstep with the governments of the United States, the European Union, and the United Kingdom. Microsoft is stopping many aspects of its business in Russia in compliance with governmental sanctions decisions.

Aside from the suspension of sales, Microsoft will assist in the protection of Ukraine’s cybersecurity and help defend the country against cyberattacks. Microsoft will also be addressing other major concerns including the safety and protection of its employees and support for humanitarian aid. Microsoft will be working closely with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and multiple UN agencies to help refugees by providing technology and financial support for key NGOs and, where needed.
Microsoft will also be assisting in providing protection against state-sponsored disinformation campaigns. This requires decisive efforts across the tech sector – both individually by companies and in partnership with others – as well as with governments, academia, and civil society.
