Skype is one of the most commonly used communication tools in a variety of different platforms - allowing people all over the world to interact. Skype functions include chat, call, video conference, screen sharing and others. Skype can be used in a Windows or Mac Computer, Tablets, Smart Phones, Xbox, and wearables. Today, Microsoft integrates Cortana, Microsoft’s Intelligent Virtual and Personal Assistant, into Skype which aims to help users with their everyday conversations.

Smart Suggestions

Cortana’s in-context assistance in Skype aims to help conversations with smart suggestions. These suggestions of useful information are based on your chat and it automatically pops out during the conversation. It works like auto-spelling suggestions where a selection of suggestions are offered by Cortana, only smarter and informative. Like if the user discusses restaurants and movies, Cortana will pull up suggestions without you even typing.

Scheduling Events and Reminders

Cortana will also help you schedule events and reminders while having a conversation. No need to switch applications to schedule meetings, Cortana can smartly detect if you are talking about scheduling events and it will automatically recommend scheduling a reminder.

Contacting Cortana

Cortana is also added as a contact in Skype so you can contact Cortana for one-on-one chats. You can ask Cortana for directions, general information, weather reports, flight status, the best restaurants and more.

With Cortana in Skype, Microsoft aims to improve the overall Skype experience. Cortana in Skype will be gradually rolled out, starting today, to Android and iOS users in the United States. Other regions will follow shortly. For questions and concerns about Cortana in Skype, visit https://go.skype.com/cortana.in.skype
