The release calender for major PC games may be a little sparse this month but AMD are continuing to release new drivers and software for their graphics cards for your consideration. The latest is Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 18.1.1, AMD's first full graphics driver software package for 2018, and rather than improving any specific area of performance instead fixes lingering issues critical to a vocal minority of gamers.
Earlier this month AMD acknowledged that their latest major software update - December's aforementioned Adrenalin Edition - was having compatibility problems with some DirectX 9 games including The Witcher and Command and Conquer 3. An Alpha driver version quickly followed addressing them, supplied 'as-is' as a temporary measure ahead of a full release driver. Today's update is just that driver.
As well as the DirectX 9 fixes Adrenalin Edition 18.1.1 also claims to solve a few still lingering FreeSync problems (something of a reoccurring issue with Adrenalin according to the AMD subreddit) and a few compatibility issues with broader Radeon features such as Wattman which expanded in scope in the Adrenalin Edition. A full list of solved and unsolved but identified concerns can be found below.

- Trimming videos may fail to create a thumbnail if the video contains non-English characters.
- Flickering may be observed on the performance metrics overlay when Enhanced Sync is enabled on some Radeon FreeSync connected displays.
- Performance Metrics Overlay may hang if enabled when cycling display power off and on.
- The "Reset" function in Radeon Settings for Display, ReLive, and Video may not work as intended when using Radeon Settings in certain regional languages.
