GIGABYTE responds to the possible new tariff implications in 2018 that may have an impact on retailers based in the United States. Given the recent tariffs imposed by the United States Trade Representative (USTR) on Chinese imports, there would be potential price fluctuations on GIGABYTE products in the coming months.

GIGABYTE also implies that the tariffs will not go into effect immediately and will undergo a two-month process with hearings to be conducted by the United States Trade Representative on August 20-23, 2018. Not all GIGABYTE products will be affected, a 10% tariff increase will be applied on selected products listed in the table below:

US-China Trade Updates

On February 16, 2018, the United States Commerce Department recommends a 24% tariff on all steel imports and 7.7% on aluminium, a policy that targets China being the world’s largest maker of steel. March 22, 2018, China responds by imposing a tariff on US goods worth $3bn. On the same day, US President Donald Trump announces a plan to impose further tariffs on Chinese imports worth $60bn but grants temporary exemptions from steel and aluminium tariffs to the EU, South Korea, and other countries. April 3, 2018, the US proposes an additional tariff on Chinese imports again. June 15, 2018, President Donald Trump announces new tariffs on goods worth $34bn will come into force on 6 July 2018.
