ASUS ROG have a huge range update ongoing at CES this year, particularly in the motherboard sector hardware segment to the looming release of new system platforms from both Intel and AMD, but their new products aren't restricted to PC internals. As it turns out they've also been brewing something new in their Swift monitor lineup, and it warrants some serious attention.

The ASUS ROG Swift PG27UQ is far more than mere gaming-grade 27" 144Hz monitor. For starters it supports G-SYNC, NVIDIA's frame refresh rate synchronisation technology which is recognised as the best solution should money be no object; in fact, it supports the brand new G-SYNC HDR implementation which considerably improves the luminance of the screen whilst also retaining G-SYNC low-latency tear-free experience.

As an IPS panel type, the ROG Swift PG27UQ has a typically higher colour gamut than sRGB. However it goes above and beyond by supporting DCI-P3, a specification which is 25% wider than sRGB and utilised by cinemas to generate more vibrant and realistic images.

You will need a pretty hefty GPU to drive the PG27UQ, especially if you want to run the display at 144HZ Synced. With a resolution of 3840 x 2160 it's four times more detailed than 1080p, a challenge for any graphics card even at the more typical 60fps. Connection options are as you would expect for a panel of this type - HDMI and dual DisplayPort 1.4.

No pricing or exact availability date has yet been announced for the ROG Swift PG27UQ, and as with other models in this range we would expect it to command both a hefty premium and high demand.
