Alongside their Threadripper launch lineup reveal, AMD also outlined Ryzen 3's release date and lineup. These CPUs, expected to be and affordable entry point into AMD's mainstream computing platform, are quad-core SKUs that will launch on July 27th - less than two weeks from now.

Ryzen 3 is launching with two models: the Ryzen 3 1300X and the Ryzen 3 1200. Both are quad-core models, but unlike the rest of the Ryzen lineup don't support Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT). Doing so would step on the toes of the quad-core Ryzen 5's, clearly. Nonetheless, four cores and support for four independent threads is more than entry-level systems have typically enjoyed.



The exact configuration of the CPU cores across the CCX's hasn't been revealed, but is likely to be two CCX's with two cores enabled per CCX. Single-CCX models on Ryzen 3 look unlikely any time soon, and may turn out be the sole province of Zen APU designs.

The amount of Cache supported by each CPU could also vary, but once again specific info on this will have to wait for a little while. Thankfully we should expect overclocking support on both Ryzen 3's in line with earlier statements from AMD, so they could be quite the budget enthusiast chip.

Pricing is forthcoming, but it's reasonable to expect both to be quite a bit less than $150. SKUs with CPU cooler included are almost inevitable given the price bracket, but misgivings should be unnecessary; AMD's boxed cooler has thus-far been a pretty solid inclusion to retail packages.
