Also in celebration of Earth Day 2022, Cooler Master teases the Q500L ECO Hemp chassis which features the use of sustainable materials to reduce plastic use and ultimately reduce carbon footprint in producing the product. Cooler Master did not mention when will this product be available but teases a prototype on their Facebook page. While the model name contains the word “hemp”, it is unclear if the case structure and panels are made of hemp wood. The case retains its mesh front panel for cooling and airflow.
The use of wood in cases and computer components isn't a new thing. Back in 2019, EKWB introduced the EK Lignum Line of water cooling products that feature the use of walnut wood which gives a luxurious look and feel. However, Cooler Master's Q500L ECO Hemp chassis is based on a different concept wherein it leans more on sustainability and eco-friendliness. If this product comes into production, it would be the first of its kind.
