Days before the official launch of the third-generation AMD Ryzen processors, Silicon Lottery added a list of AMD Matisse processors on their webstore. Silicon Lottery sells binned Intel and AMD processors which are thoroughly tested for the processor’s maximum performance. Binning allows Silicon Lottery to identify the maximum boost clocks of the processors which is like a guaranteed peak overclock that will not compromise performance stability. It has been a while since we saw binned AMD processors for sale, these ‘premium’ third-generation AMD Ryzen processors will be offered later after the launch on July 5th. Silicon Lottery plans to sell binned AMD Ryzen 7 3800X 8-core, 16-thread processors and AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12-core, 24-thread processors by July. Binned Ryzen 9 3950X will come on a later date given that launch for the Ryzen 9 3950X is in September. No pricing information and detailed specifications of the binned AMD Matisse processors available as of this writing.
Binned processors offer stable performance improvement over boxed processors wherein you can identify the processor’s peak overclock. This appeals to overclockers that are always in a quest to find processors with the highest stable overclocking potential. With binning, enthusiasts and overclockers can skip testing multiple processors to find one that can achieve high boost clocks and withstand high thermals. The Ryzen 9 3950X that was overclocked to 5.4GHz that achieved a 5501 score in Cinebench R15 sounds like an impressive feat but we are still yet to see the full potential of the third-generation Ryzen processors when these professionally binned AMD Matisse processors come out. We could see higher overclockable AMD Matisse processors very soon.
