The coming year looks set to the chock-a-block with exciting Triple-A releases including the likes of Elden Ring, God of War: Ragnarok and even an untitled Zelda: Breath of the Wild game all on the calender. Lurking at the year's tail end may however be one of the most anticipated PC releases: Starfield, Bethesda's upcoming open world RPG.
Until now all we knew about Starfield could probably be printed on the back of a generously-sized post-it note, but it looks like the development team lead by Todd Howard are finally ready to start taking the wraps off in earnest. Today they unveiled the start of a new series of development logs entitled Into The Starfield that will break down how the game has been made, some of the key inflection points in its design, and of course steadily build the hype prior to a release that's pencilled in for November 11th 2022.
Episode 1: The Endless Pursuit sets the stage for the game's development. Leading members of the development team, including main man Todd Howard, discuss what makes an RPG have genuine longevity and some of the important events that need to occur for players to emotionally resonate with it beyond the first hours of a play-through. Cards are being kept close to their chest for now, but the one strong hint dropped is that the game will have modding support through official tools.
The official website at http://starfieldgame.com/ is still a little on the sparse side, but expect it to be filled out quite a bit in the coming months.
At launch next year Starfield will be exclusive to XBOX Series X|S and PC.
