Yesterday AMD revealed a handful of additions to their desktop CPU range comprising both Ryzen 4000- and 5000-series models, and major motherboard manufacturers are falling over themselves to confirm support for the new chips. As previously noted GIGABYTE were early off the starting blocks with their announcement, and earlier today ASUS joined them in welcoming the processors to their own 400-series and 500-series motherboards.
The only major questionmark over forthcoming support is for the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, the Zen 3 CPU that will be the first to incorporate stacked cache that pushes its total L3 cache pool to a whopping 96MB. ASUS have confirmed 500-series and 400-series support through AMD AGESA version 1.2.0.6b, but have stated that 300-series support (i.e. the X370, B350 and A320) will be dependent on AMD.
Updates for 400-series and 500-series motherboards that support each of the upcoming CPUs are already available. Owners of 300-series platforms will have theirs available on March 25th. Remember also that newer BIOSes will likely sunset support for older Ryzen Zen and Zen+ CPUs and APUs, making the update process tricky for those running older processors prior to upgrading to new silicon.
