As 2021 reaches its climax eyes are now turning to CES 2022 in Las Vegas, the first major consumer technology expo to be held in-person in quite some time. The latest news on COVID might put pay to it being as vibrant as CES's of the past but for now at least both Intel and AMD are planning to add a little bit of spice to the proceedings.

First up on January 4th at 3pm GMT (4pm CET) will be AMD's livestreamed press conference, promising to "showcase upcoming AMD graphics solutions" which likely means fresh RDNA2 derivatives or even RDNA3. Unmentioned is Ryzen CPUs, for which we're expecting Zen 3-based processors with on-die 3D V-Cache and a potential discussion of Zen 4.

Following that there will be a gap until 6pm GMT (7pm CET), at which time Intel will be hosting their own livestreamed event. There's plenty for Chipzilla to discuss during the 45-minute conference including Alder-Lake P-series laptop chips, more affordable 600-series motherboards and more, but the technology that has everyone on tenterhooks going into 2022 is their Arc GPU architecture. A 45-minute conference doesn't give them a whole lot of time to cover all the bases in depth, but we can expect all points to be at least touched upon.

AMD won't be attending CES proper this year, preferring to remain remote for now. Intel however should be one of the exhibitors at the convention all things being equal. For their part NVIDIA have yet to share their plans.

CES 2022 proper begins on January 5th. More information is available at CES.tech
