AMD Adrenalin Edition Driver Adds Hitman 3 RT & Sniper Elite 5 Support

AMD Radeon are bolstering their showing at Computex 2022 this week with the release of a new AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition, paving the way for the release of Sniper Elite 5 on PC this Thursday. Adrenalin Edition 22.5.2 also adds compatibility with Hitman 3's new Ray Tracing image options, new Vulkan API extensions and a few other key performance improvements. It's downloadable right now from AMD.com/support.

The Hitman 3 Year 2 patch was deployed today, integrating both Ray Tracing and Adaptive Supersampling into the game's optional features. These drivers explicitly support Ray Tracing on Radeon 6000-series GPUs, while AMD's FSR 1.0 falls under the 'adaptive supersampling banner'. IO Interactive have supplied a handy performance requirement guide for both features here.

In addition to the above these drivers also incorporate performance improvements deriving from AMD Smart Access Memory optimizations. The optimisations are game specific - Death Stranding and Watch Dogs: Legion are the lucky titles in this instance - and the gains that may be realised may be up to 24% depending on hardware configuration and specific game. See below for details.

Rounding out the changes will be fixes to known issues, but these are now explicitly documented in the release notes. Known issues are identified and should be quashed in an upcoming driver.

The Adrenalin Edition 22.5.2 drivers are compatible with 64-bit versions of Windows 10 and 11, and support discrete GPUs as far back as the Radeon RX 400-series. A wide selection of Radeon Mobility APUs are also supported by this release.

Known Issues

- Performance drop may be experienced while playing Fortnite™ with Multithreaded Rendering and DirectX® 11 API on some AMD Graphics Products such as the Radeon® RX 6900 XT Graphics.
- Stuttering may be experienced while playing Call of Duty®: Warzone™ on the Caldera map with some AMD Graphics Products such as the Radeon® RX 6900 XT Graphics.
- Higher than expected CPU usage when Instant Replay is enabled on some AMD Graphics Products such as the Radeon® RX 6900 XT Graphics.
- GPU utilization may be stuck at 100% in Radeon performance metrics after closing games on some AMD Graphics Products such as Radeon™ 570.
- Display may flicker black during video playback plus gameplay on some AMD Graphics Products such as the Radeon™ RX 6700 XT.
- Using Radeon™ Super Resolution on 2560x1600 resolution displays may produce a system hang. A temporary workaround is to set the display Scaling Mode to Full Panel.
- Enhanced Sync may cause a black screen to occur when enabled on some games and system configurations. Any users who may be experiencing issues with Enhanced Sync enabled should disable it as a temporary workaround.
- Radeon performance metrics and logging features may intermittently report extremely high and incorrect memory clock values.

Important Notes

AMD Software Capture and Stream features and Overlay support for Clone mode and Eyefinity display configurations will be introduced at a later date.
Radeon™ Super Resolution is compatible with AMD Ryzen™ 6000 series processors with integrated graphics that do not have a discrete solution.
